First-class business and networking platform
After an intensive three days, the ZELLCHEMIG-Expo 2018 can look back at a successful exhibition with a top-class lecture program and many opportunities for networking. A total of 130 exhibiting companies, including 77 main exhibitors and 53 co-exhibitors, presented their innovative products and services along the value chain of pulp and paper production as well as fiber-based materials.
“This year, as with every year, we fully achieved the goals we set as exhibitors at the ZELLCHEMING-Expo: meeting numerous customers at our stand, discussing projects and exchanging ideas in a great atmosphere at the exhibition and the evening events. This Expo offers fantastic opportunities to enter into dialogue with a great number of people and is therefore very important for our industry“, summarized the exhibitor Dr. Jürgen Bihler, Sales Director, Gebr. Bellmer GmbH Maschinenfabrik.
Future-oriented lectures at a high level
With a comprehensive lecture program, the ZELLCHEMING-Expo provided visitors with a variety of free-of-charge further training opportunities for their individual fields of application. Once again, the exhibition forum was defined by top-class panel presentations and informative exhibitor presentations on the current key topics of the pulp and paper industry, including Bioeconomics and the Paper Industry 4.0.
The ZELLCHEMING-Expo has further attracted renowned speakers for the keynote speeches. On the first day of the event, Thomas Reiner, Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Packaging Institute, delivered a talk on "Packaging and sustainability as reflected by consumers”. The series of lectures on the main topic of the second day, Bioeconomics, was opened by Peter Berg, Director of Knowledge at McKinsey, with his keynote speech "Bioeconomics - How big is the economic factor?".
A special highlight at the exhibition forum was the Science Flash, which took place for the first time this year and was presented by TV presenter and physicist Kristina zur Mühlen. In this innovative series of lectures, young scientists from various universities gave insights into their innovative work.
In addition, the interest in the well-established Guided Tours for students to selected companies was so high that they took place with three groups this year. Intensive discussions were held across all levels.
The Cellulose Symposium, the scientific platform of the ZELLCHEMING e.V., also focused on the future-oriented topic of bioeconomics, in particular on the products and production processes of cellulose- and paper-based materials.
Diversified networking platform
Many exhibitors and visitors value the ZELLCHEMING-Expo due to its numerous networking opportunities. Evening events such as the "After Fair" and "Summer Evening" hosted by the ZELLCHEMING e.V. were well-attended attractions designed to make new contacts and strengthen existing ones.
A new event featured this year was the breakfast reception organized by ZELLCHEMING e.V. Held exclusively for women in the pulp and paper industry, they were invited them to expand their personal and professional network in a relaxed, lively atmosphere.
"I can look back at three exciting days with great conversations and many impressions. This year's lecture program was fantastic and characterized by very different formats. I was impressed by our young scientists in the Science Flash Our sessions on bioeconomics and paper industry 4.0 have also shown that these topics hit the nerve of the times. And let’s not to forget our premiere event "Women in the paper industry" with almost 20 strong women from the industry – a real inspiration for me", confirms Petra Hanke, Managing Director of the ZELLCHEMING association.
Overview of the 2018 figures:

The figures were gathered in accordance with FKM guidelines (Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics).
